随着社会的发展，中国与世界的文化，思想交流越来越紧密，西方宗教小说对于国人了解西方宗教思想，爱情观念，社会生活起到很大的作用。传递中西方文化，推动中西方思想交流，是宗教小说研究领域专家学者共同的目标。小说是作者通过刻画人物形象，描绘不同的故事情节来反映社会生活的思想文学体裁。优秀的小说不仅向读者展示了丰富的艺术形象，生活画面和社会知识，更凝结了人类智慧的结晶，潜移默化地影响读者的思想和修养。宗教小说是以宗教为主题，结合社会生活为题材，旨在阐发宗教意义，宣传宗教思想，揭示人生真谛的小说。
本次翻译实践选取的材料来自于《好男人》一书中的第五至七章。该书为西方出版物，未曾被翻译。在本次翻译实践中选取其作为翻译原文，旨在提升翻译能力，提升自由转换中英两种语言能力，分析中英语言差异，总结英文宗教小说的翻译方法。该小说主要记叙了主人公麦琪友好对待一群斑猫以及在其过程中和朋友之间发生的故事，体现了在一定时代背景下，社会政治、经济、文化、思想等方面的真实情况。对此文本的翻译可以使人了解社会各个方面，扩充宗教小说的知识。
INTRODUCTION
With the development of the society, the culture of China and the world of ideas are more and more closely connected. Western religious novels play a great role for Chinese people to understand western religious thought, their concept of love, and social life. Promoting the exchange of ideas between cultures is a common goal of experts and scholars in the field of religious fiction. The novel is the ideological literary genre, in which the author, through portraying characters, depicts different plots to reflect social life. Excellent novels not only show the readers rich artistic images, pictures of life and social knowledge, but show more quintessence of human being’s knowledge, imperceptibly influencing the readers’ thought and culture. Religious novels are based on religious themes, combining with the social life as their subjects, aiming to elucidate the religious significance, religious thought, and revealing the true meaning of life in the novel.
