The Burning Room is written by outstanding American detective novelist Michael Connelly. Michael Connelly was born in Philadelphia in 1956. With parents’ impact, he became interested in crime and mystery at an early age.
This book describes Detective Bosch and his assistant Soto’s investigation process of an unsolved case and a series of things it leads to. Bosch works for RHD's Open-Unsolved Unit. This time, he takes over an unsolved case from Detective Rojas and Rodriguez. Ten years ago, a music performer named Orlando Merced was shot in the crowded Mariachi Plaza and became paralyzed since then. At first, the police consider it as a random shoot made by the gang nearby. With Merced dying from complications 10 years later and they get the bullet removed from his body at last, Bosch realizes Merced was shot by a hunting rifle which means it was an act on purpose and their original consideration is wrong. With the new clue, Bosch finds he is led to another great big secret has something to do with the most powerful men of the city. Meanwhile, Soto begins to have strange behavior and another unsolved case comes to Bosch.
The part translated is from chapter 6 to chapter 8. Chapter 6 mainly tells Detective Rojas and Rodriguez’s former investigation on this case and Bosch’s review on the tapes taken near the plaza. Chapter 7 describes the things happened after the mayor announced a reward for the case. This chapter is made up of many dialogues among the characters. In chapter 8, Bosch and his assistant are investigating the case by visiting the plaza and the hotel.
