Abstract:With the continuous development of multimedia digital technology and the deepening of cross-cultural communication, China has continuously introduced a large number of outstanding films and television programs from abroad in recent years. These films offer us a window to make us see different cultures and enrich people’s spiritual life. Because of its recreational and educational, animated films have become one of the most popular forms of entertainment for children and young people. As a result, subtitle translation has become a bridge for cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries and plays an increasingly important role in cultural exchanges and information transmission.
Newmark believes that successful translation depends on expression of communicative effect of source language, and centering on language and target readers, makes them receive the effect as close as that received on the readers of the original. His communicative translation theory is often used to judge whether it can achieve the purpose of communicating with the audience through dialogue and subtitle translation, and whether it can form an interactive relationship with the audience. The movie subtitles translation should not only take into account the audience’s acceptance of the linguistic structure differences and cultural differences of the source language, but also combine the characteristics of the movie subtitles to achieve effective communication between the source language film and the target audiences.
According to previous researches, under the guidance of the communicative translation theory and combining the features of animation subtitle translation, this paper discusses subtitle translation strategies for animated films. At last, a case study of the translation of subtitles of The Secret Life of Pets and Zootopia, analyzing how some classic subtitles are reflected in various translation strategies in order to demonstrate the feasibility of communicative translation theory for cartoon subtitle translation and make people understand the role of communicative translation theory. At the same time, it is hope that can arouse people’s interest to conduct more relevant researches and guide the subtitle translation practice for domestic films and promote the development of the Chinese movie market.

摘要:随着多媒体数字技术的不断发展和跨文化交际的不断深入,近些年中国源源不断地从国外引进大量的优秀影片和电视节目。这些影片提供给我们一个窗口,让我们看到了国外不同的文化,并且丰富了人们的精神生活。动画电影具有娱乐性和教育性,成为了最受孩子和年轻人欢迎的娱乐方式之一。因而,字幕翻译成为了中外文化交流的桥梁,在文化交流和信息传递方面的作用越来越重要。
纽马克认为翻译的成功取决于交际效果的传达,以目的语和目的语读者为中心,使目的语读者能够最大程度获得源语读者的感受。他所提出的交际翻译方法常常用来判断是否能够通过对话和字幕翻译达到与观众交流的目的,是否能够形成与观众的交互关系。电影字幕的翻译不仅要考虑到观众对源语语言结构差异和文化差异的接受程度,同时也结合电影字幕自身特点以达到源语电影与译语观众的有效交际。
在参研前人研究成果的基础上,本文运用纽马克的交际翻译理论作为指导,结合动画字幕翻译的特点,讨论动画电影的字幕翻译策略。最后以动画电影《疯狂动物城》和《爱宠大机密》的字幕翻译为例,分析一些经典字幕如何体现在译者所采用的各种翻译策略中,以论证交际翻译运用于电影字幕翻译的可行性。并且让人们明白交际翻译理论在字幕翻译中的指导作用。同时,也希望可以引起相关人士的注意去进行更多相关的研究去指导国内电影字幕翻译的实践,促进中国电影事业的蓬勃发展。
