Abstract
Both the East and the West have their own unique culture, and face view is one of the important aspects of culture. Both sides often have difficulty in communicating and understanding, as they have different views of understanding and different degree of concern at the aspect of face, as well as the diverse measures of dealing with face problems.
Li’an’s film Wedding Banquet is a material, which is used to discuss the differences of face view from the different cultural backgrounds and the causes of this diversity from four aspects: the exchange of calligraphy and painting, sending gifts, the holding of the wedding and the toasting. It will let communicators know face view well in the process of communicating, as well as enhance the sensitivity of people to the differences of social culture and language. Therefore, the cultural conflict caused by the face can be reduced and of course, it will be of great significance to the future cultural exchange between the East and the West.
