Abstract
Flower, which is closely related to human life, is a kind of plant in nature. The flower language, reflecting human thought, human feelings, beautiful things and religious background, is an important part of Chinese and western culture. Based on theoretical study of flower language and some typical examples, this paper carries out a careful examination of different flower language in China and the west. By means of comparing the similarities and differences of flower language and analyzing related reasons, the paper attempts to give cultural explanations and explore the value of flower language. Through analysis and comparisons, the author finds that China and the west share a great deal of flower language, but they are different to some degree. The paper not only helps people to learn the culture and thought about flowers, but also has practical implications in cross-cultural communication and daily life.
