Abstract: A Thousand Splendid Suns is the second novel written by an Afghan-American author --- Khaled Hosseini. It’s a story about two girls Mariam and Laila saving each other during war times and endless domestic violence.
In this paper, the writer aims to study the cruel reality and tragic fate of women under the fire of war, religion and gender discrimination. It consists of four parts; the first part introduces the author Khaled Hosseini and his novel; the second part describes the tragic life of Afghanistan women; the third part analyzes where the oppression of Afghanistan women comes from; the forth part focuses on the resistance of Afghanistan women starting from the awakening.
