ABSTRACT:With the high-speed development of tourism, China with thousands years of civilization attracts more and more foreign tourists every year. Therefore, the English translation of scenic spots is getting more important. The translation quality of scenic spots has great effects on its external publicity and image. In order to perfect the translation of scenic spots, this thesis taking English translation of scenic spots in Jianshui as sample text, analyzes the problems in the translation with the equivalence theory, and talks about how to get the equivalence from the perspective of linguistics and culture. At the end of the thesis, the author unites some common translation methods, transliteration, literal translation and transliteration & literal translation to discuss the English translation of scenic spots.

摘要:随着我国涉外旅游业的快速发展,每年有越来越多的外国游客到古老的中国观光旅游。因此,旅游景点的英译也越发显得重要,它的英译质量直接影响到景点的外在宣传和形象。为了完善当前的旅游景点的英译,本文以建水旅游景点的英译为例,结合翻译对等理论,从文化、语言方面对旅游景点的翻译的问题进行分析。并提出几种常用的翻译方法,音译、意译、音译与意译相结,对旅游景点的英文翻译进行探讨。

As the increasingly frequent communications of China with other countries, more and more foreign tourists come to China to get a better understanding of this mysterious eastern country. In order to get a better publicity and communication, most of scenic spots offer English translation. More and more translations of scenic spots are available in the introduction of scenic spots and pamphlet of hotel. Undoubtedly, the translation quality of scenic spots has great effects on intercultural communication. It is necessary to make a united English translation of every scenic spots. However, there are some problems in the translated versions of scenic spots: the disunity of the translation of scenic spots, the confusion of translation of dynasty and so on. In order to perfect the translation quality, studying on the English translation of scenic spots is very important.
At present, the domestic research on the English translation of scenic spots is carried out from many different perspectives, such as the views of inter-culture, nativation and alienation, translation principle and so on. Some scholars (Cao Bo, Tian Xiaoqing, 郭定芹) studied the translation of scenic spots based on the linguistic and content features of Chinese introduction to scenic spots, put forward the problems that the translator should resolve in translating. Some scholars (卜绍先, 罗小波) take concrete scenic spots (scenic spots in Dali and Wuhan) as examples to talk about the English translation of scenic spots with regional feature.
Jianshui, a national historical city, is famous for such scenic spots as Swallow Cave, Private Garden of the Family Zhu, Confucius Temple and so on. With the development of tourism industry, numerous English translations of scenic spots in Jianshui are offered.
They play an important role in publicizing these scenic spots as well as the rich cultural behind them. But some of them flaws with the translation to some extent undermine its positive effects.
