Abstract:The graduation paper mainly focuses on the interpretation of Charlotte’s worth in Charlotte’s Web, written by a contemporary American essayist E.B. White. Charlotte’s Web is about the friendship between a spider named Charlotte and a pig named Wilbur. Charlotte saves Wilbur’s life by spinning unique webs, which enables Wilbur to break free from his fate of being killed and become the first pig who sees snow in winter. The paper intends to discuss Charlotte’s worth by analyzing Charlotte’s spinning her unique webs to save Wilbur’s life. The researcher first concentrates on the friendship between Wilbur and Charlotte, including Wilbur’s difficult beginning, the formation of their friendship and a turning point in Wilbur’s life. The paper then focuses on why Charlotte successfully spins unique webs and saves Wilbur’s life from the following aspects—Charlotte’s dream and persistence, her unique webs, and help from other animals. The researcher comes to a conclusion that Charlotte’s loyalty and wisdom urges her to give Wilbur a helping hand and Charlotte proves her worth during the process of saving Wilbur.
