Through the ecofeminism analysis above, a rational conclusion can be made that Frances Hodges Burnett is a great worker with strong ecofeminism awareness and The Secret Garden is not only a great book for children but also a strong support of ecofeminism. In this book, the author focuses on the status of women in a patriarchal society. She portrays ideal women with her pen. Under her pen, women should be brave, healthy and compassionate. Burnett transcends the ecofeminism and proposes a spiritual attitude to overcome the gender and ecological crisis. That is love and braveness.
In this novel, Burnett reveals her ideas of ecofeminism that she aims to save women and nature from the oppression of men. She sends Mary to the patriarchal society and Mary alters this place successfully.
She also emphasizes that the alienation between human and nature should be ended after the effort of women. Women can achieve that goal since they are full of love. The love to all species and the whole natural world is the sword for women to pierce the wall between man and nature.
