Abstract:With the advent of the information age, the global movie and television career are facing a vibrant future. At the same time, the situation of the cultural field is becoming better and better. Faced with this utopian trend, foreign movies begin to accelerate the pace to enter the Chinese market and have a profound impact on Chinese people’s daily life. Therefore, movie subtitle translation, the direct carrier of the exotic cultures, should be concerned.
In this thesis, the basic requirements of the movie subtitle translation will be introduced as a precondition. Meanwhile, the characteristics of both Chinese and English versions of the movie “Avatar” will also be analyzed. The most important part in the thesis is the discussion for merits and demerits in the Chinese version of movie “Avatar” from the perspective of aesthetics. According to the literature data, we can see that the theories and researches of aesthetics have been matured. Therefore, if the basic concepts and principles of aesthetics can be used in the movie subtitle translation work, the innovation of subtitle translation strategies will be further promoted. It is a good way to meet the appreciative level and needs of Chinese audience.

摘要:随着信息时代的到来,全球影视产业生机勃勃。文化领域出现了百家争鸣,百花齐放的局面。面对这一大好趋势,外国电影开始加快步伐进军中国市场,并逐渐深刻影响着人民的日常生活。因此,作为人们接受异域文化的直接载体——电影字幕,其翻译应该受到关注和重视。
本论文以介绍电影字幕翻译的基本要求为前提,分析了电影《阿凡达》中英汉两种台词的特点,并从美学的角度出发,讨论了电影字幕翻译中的亮点与不足。根据相关的文献数据显示,美学的理论研究已经基本成熟,若能将美学的概念原理应用于电影字幕的翻译工作中,将会进一步促进字幕翻译策略的创新,同时亦能更好地满足中国观众的欣赏水平和需求。
