Abstract：Marriage is an enormous thing in everyone’s life. Wherever it happens, wedding is a festive thing. Just like China with a long history and America with rapid development, although there are many differences in wedding cultures, they all carry with love and best wishes. With the development of economic globalization, the communication between China and America deepens day by day. To some extent, wedding cultures reflects the cultures of the two countries; therefore, learning Chinese and American wedding cultures becomes more and more important. This dissertation analyses and discusses the differences of wedding cultures between China and America from various aspects. It also makes us further understand the cultural causes of the differences. It is beneficial for us to realize the cultures and customs of the two countries and avoid cultural misunderstanding and conflicts.

中文摘要：结婚在每个人的生活中都是一件头等大事。不管在哪一个国家，婚礼都是一件喜庆的事。正如有着悠久历史的中国和快速发展的美国，尽管在婚礼文化上有着很多的差异，婚礼也总是充满爱和最美好的祝福。随着经济全球化的发展，中美交流日益加深。在某一程度上婚礼文化反映着两国的文化, 因此学习中美两国的婚礼文化便显得日益重要。本文从多方面分析讨论了中美两国的婚礼差异，深入了解了它们的文化成因。这对于了解两国文化、风俗习惯和避免文化误解、文化冲突有着重要意义。

As what I have mentioned above, we can see that each of the two countries’ wedding cultures has its uniqueness, which all show in the two films. They form their own characteristics with their long-term development of the historical process. Culture of a country reflects people’s life, records people’s activities and it is the accumulation of history, the life needs of the people. So when it comes to planning a wedding, one of the biggest cultures, people often honor traditions, even if they do not entirely understand their origin or meaning. Every culture cherishes its own wedding traditions and they show the special characteristics of a country.
