Abstract:A large number of various Chinese culture-loaded words emerge on the basis of Chinese special civilization, which contain the charm of traditional and modern culture. Chinese culture-loaded words are also the expression of China's uniqueness. How to popularize Chinese culture via these special terms and how to make Chinese culture adapt to the contemporary society but still keep its distinctive nationalism belong to every Chinese translator’s responsibility. This paper, based on cultural translation theory, aims to undertake a systematic exploration of English translation of Chinese culture-loaded words from a cultural perspective. Then some related information of Chinese culture and Chinese culture-loaded words are provided and the limits of translatability and translation principles are also pointed out in this paper. After that specific translation techniques are suggested such as literal translation, transliteration, free translation and so on. Through the systematic analysis, the author thinks that much more attention should be paid to the translation of Chinese culture-loaded words, and translators need to equip with the cultural awareness in the process of English translation.

摘要：中国特色文化赋予了中国独具一格的词汇。中国特色词汇蕴含的是中国传统和现代文化的魅力，表达的是中国所独有的事物。如何利用中国的特色词汇把中国的先进文化推向世界，使华夏文化适应当代社会，与现代文明协调，并同时保持其民族性和时代性，是每个中国译者的责任。本文以文化翻译观为基础，从文化视角系统地阐述了中国特色词汇的英译问题。本文在探讨中国文化以及特色词汇的相关理论后，指出了特色词汇英译中的可译性限度，翻译的原则，并通过对具体译例的分析，提出翻译的主要方法：直译、音译、意译等。中国文化特色词汇的英译应予以足够的认识，译者在翻译过程中要提高文化意识。
