Abstract:Both Emily Dickinson and Li Qingzhao are famous poetesses in the history of literature. They lived in different countries and different times and they formed their unique poem styles. Through they lived in totally different cultural circumstances and revealed distinguishable characteristics along the lines of their poems, they have some similarities in the contents of their poems as two excellent females in the field of literature.
The analysis on the similarities and differences between the Chinese poems represented by Li and the Western poems represented by Emily Dickinson helps to reflect the differences between the female cultures especially on the aspect of literature, get a better understanding of the classical poems and western literature, improve the aesthetic level, and appreciate the variable charm of the poems. In turn, we can continue to explore the Chinese and Western cultures which lie behind these poems. So we will understand the cultures better and improve our professional and comprehensive quality.
The whole essay will mainly deal with the two poetesses’ similarities and the differences of the views to love, life, and ego. Through comparison, the reasons for these differences will be clearly illustrated.
