ABSTRACT:With the development of the media technology and the common knowledge of ordinary people, dubbed films are not frequently seen now. Many people would rather watch the original films than dubbed versions because dubbed films cannot fully transmit the original factors. At the same time, film dubbing translation is a less popular subdivision of translation. Unlike subtitle translation, there are few theoretic studies done in this field. Dubbed films are now facing a dilemma. However, there are still some people that need dubbed films to help them better view the foreign cultures. This paper shows the development of dubbed films in China and its present situation. It also includes analysis of the reservations of the original factors in dubbed films. There is also a specific survey of the popularity of dubbed films. After that some suggestions are made to help the film dubbing career become better in the future.
