Abstract: In 1962, two versions of Anthony Burgess's novel A Clockwork Orange were published. One concludes with Alex growing up and turning away from violence, while the second, darker version leaves out that final chapter. The movie director Kubrick based his film on the second version, and made a great success. But the author said that he totally couldn’t agree with the film, which made him being famous. This essay tries to discuss the similarities between the novel and the movie from the perspective of humanity and political attitudes, and the differences from their social problems and cultural meaning, focuses on the last chapter and explores the reason why it was deleted in the film.

摘要：1962年，安东尼伯吉斯的小说《发条橙》的两个版本出版了。一个讲述了小说主人公阿历克斯成长并最终放弃暴力改邪归正，另一个则删掉了最后一章留给读者们一个黑暗的结局。电影《发条橙》的导演库布里克采用了第二个版本。然而小说作者却一直对此耿耿于怀。本文从人性，政治观以及社会问题，文化差异等方面探讨小说与电影的异同，同时探讨小说最后一章在电影中被删去的原因。
