Abstract:As the result of China’s wider open policy to the world, Eastern and Western exchanges in economic, social, cultural and other fields’ have become increasingly frequent, and festival cultures are no exception. They are being mutually permeated and melted. As one of the cultural reflections, festivals have been endowed with special social and cultural significance and show their unique cultures of different nationalities and ethnic customs to the world. By comparing the main cultural differences and analyzing the main reasons between Chinese and Western festivals, and how to understand the differences correctly, this essay aims at showing people the ways on how to understand the history and cultural background correctly, as well as the unique culture of Chinese and Western Festivals. Studying the differences will enable us to reduce cultural collision and conflict, eliminate part of communication barriers, deepen friendship and promote mutual understanding and communication, better carry out international exchanges and cooperation between China and the Western Countries.

中文摘要:随着中国对外开放程度的逐步深入，中西双方在经济、社会文化等领域的交往日益频繁，其节日文化也开始相互渗透、相互融合。作为一种文化体现，节日被赋予了独特的社会文化意义，它向世人展现了不同民族所独有的民族文化和民族风情。本文通过对比中国和西方国家节日文化方面的主要差异，分析造成该节日文化差异的主要原因，以及如何正确认识该差异，旨在让人们能更充分和正确地认识中西方国家节日的历史与文化背景，以及独有的文化内涵，减少文化方面的碰撞和冲突，扫除中西方交流中的部分障碍，加深和促进我国和世界各国人民的友好了解与沟通,更好地开展国际间的交流与合作。
