Abstract: Poetry exists in both Chinese and English history of literature, in which image plays a very important part in its creation and appreciation. This paper firstly makes a brief introduction of image, its definition and types of image. Then through the comparison of the similarities and differences of images in Chinese and English poetry, it attempts to point out the influence of culture in the creation of images in both languages with the purpose of enhancing readers’ appreciation and aesthetical ability.

摘要：意象是中英诗歌中出现的一个十分相近的现象，并且在中英诗歌的创作和鉴赏中起着非常重要的作用。本文介绍了中英诗歌中意象的定义和种类并通过对中英诗中意象异同进行比较研究，来透析中西文化的差异，从而能够帮助读者更好地鉴赏中英诗歌，提高审美水准。
