Abstract: Euphemism is an important means used to adjust interpersonal relationship with the language. In Western cultures, people tend to use euphemism widely in many fields. This paper introduces the features of euphemism, the fields it is used in, such as education, career, advertisement, individual, and the reasons for diversified application of English euphemism. Using euphemism properly not only reflects speaker’s ideological cultivation and language mastery, but also brings interpersonal relationship greater convenience and harmony.

摘要：委婉语是用语言来调剂人际关系的一个重要手段。在西方文化中，人们在多个领域广泛地使用委婉语。本文介绍了委婉语的特点，多样化应用委婉语的原因及其应用领域，如：教育、职业、广告和个人等。恰当使用委婉语不仅反映说话者的思想修养和语言修养，也给人际关系带来更大的方便与和谐。
