Abstract: The Treatment (Gua Sha) reveals cultural conflicts between the Chinese and American values by describing the life of a Chinese family that has lived in America for eight years. This paper starts with an introduction of the American dream that seems to have been perfectly realized by Mr. Xu in the movie; then it analyzes the cultural differences between China and the US, mainly discussing their different values in terms of “face” issue, friendship and kinship; last, it suggests approaching other cultures to avoid conflicts.

摘要：《刮痧》这部电影通过描写一个移民到美国八年的中国家庭的生活来反映中美的文化差异。本文以介绍美国梦的实现这似乎是完美的异国生活开始，接着跟随故事情节的进展来分析中美文化差异，其中主要探讨了中国人与美国人对面子，友情父母亲情关系的不同价值观，最后提出走近异国文化的建议。
