Abstract: Film is the embodiment of life. Through the study of the euphemisms in English films, people can make better use of euphemism. This paper tends to discuss the pragmatic functions of euphemism appearing in some films—taboo, politeness, concealment and beautification. This paper also analyzes the factors influencing the use of euphemism in English films including gender, social status and degree of education. Euphemisms are widely used in every field, mastering them is good for us to study English and carry out effective multi-cultural intercommunication.

摘要：电影是生活的体现。通过电影场景中委婉语的了解，方便人们更好地使用委婉语，本文通过对一些英语电影中出现过的委婉语的研究，旨在分析这些委婉语在当时的电影场景中起到的语用功能，包括禁忌、礼貌、隐晦和美化功能等。并分析了其影响因素主要包括性别、社会地位和教育程度。委婉语在各个领域都有广泛的应用，对于我们学好英语，进行有效的跨文化交际有很大的帮助。
