Abstract:With the rapid development of the Chinese tourism industry, more and more foreign tourists will come to China for a visit. Although not all foreign tourists are from English-speaking countries, English, as a common language in today's world, has become the most important medium of communication when international tourist activities are involved. As a result, tourism English has become popular and a special variety of English. More Chinese tourist materials are translated into English for the benefit of foreign tourists. But it is not always easy to do so, and many problems exist in using tourism English and especially in tourism English translation because of the specialty of tourism English and the differences between Chinese and English caused by the big gap of understanding between Chinese and Western cultures. In this case, the essay first aims to show the three principles used in the translation of Chinese tourism materials, and then analyze the techniques of translating tourist materials in Chinese into English.

中文摘要:随着中国旅游业的发展,对外交流增多,越来越多的外国游客选择中国作为他们的旅游目的地。虽然这些外国游客并不是全部来自英语国家,但是作为当今世界通用语,英语成为国际旅游活动中一个最重要的交流工具和媒介。因此,旅游英语这个特殊的英语文体开始在中国旅游行业中流行,并成为旅游业发展必不可少的因素之一。为了方便外国游客,越来越多的汉语旅游资料被翻译成英语。然而,因为旅游英语的特殊性以及由于中西方文化差异而导致的汉语和英语在语言习惯上的不同,在使用旅游英语和进行旅游英语翻译时出现了许多问题。本论文意在提出一些解决这些问题的办法。
本论文准备首先研究旅游英语特点,而后,基于严复所提出的“信、达、雅”翻译标准得出英译旅游资料应遵守的三项原则:忠实,易懂,简明。论文还将运用具体事例阐明旅游英语翻译中常见的错误以及运用上述三项原则所得的正确译文。最后文章还将就五种旅游英语翻译技巧:增词、注释、类比、删减与重组,意境翻译法进行定义并运用例子加以阐释,以解决译者在进行旅游英语翻译过程中所遇到的具体问题。
