Abstract: This paper aims to investigate the use and significance of symbols in The Golden Notebook which shows us the theme of breakdown and wholeness in the form of diaries. It also gives an analysis on the performance of the symbolic meanings of colors in The Golden Notebook and indicates both the thematic and psychological effects. Finally, it is concluded that the author provides the characters more freedom both in time and space by means of multiple colors which exhibit such postmodern features as gameplay and intertextuality.

摘要：本文以当代英国女作家莱辛的代表作《金色笔记》中颜色的象征意义为切入点，对五种颜色所代表的不同意义进行了具体细致的文本分析，揭示了颜色对小说创作产生的主题和心理方面的双重影响。同时得出结论：颜色的多重含义旨在同时赋予小说人物和创作主体以更多的时空自由，从而体现出后现代小说的游戏性和互文性。
