Abstract:As we all know, different nation have different cultures, which bring the different diet cultures. Diet is absolutely necessary in the existence and development in the life of mankind. In the development of human society, the national diet has gradually formed its own unique culture. The differences between Chinese culture and the Western culture make Chinese and Western diet culture different, which come from their different cultural values, ways of thinking and philosophy. What causes these differences? They are due to the different geographical features, climate environments, and customs and so on. Though the cultural values are different in China and the West，this thesis mainly makes a research on the differences of Chinese diet culture and western diet culture from the aspects of conception of diet culture, patterns, customs, environments, tastes, targets, cooking ways and table manners. Understanding the differences and holding a right attitude towards the distinct cultures will help to avoid the contradictions and conflicts brought forth by different food cultures and values, and thus promoting cultural exchange and development between the two countries. So it is very meaningful to comparing the different cultural values between China and the West.

摘要:我们都知道，不同的民族有不同的文化，因而也有了不同的饮食文化。饮食是人类生活、生存与发展的必需，在人类社会的发展中，各国的饮食也逐渐形成了自己独特的文化。中西文化之间的差异造就了中西饮食文化的差异，而这种差异来自中西方不同的价值观、思维方式和处世哲学。哪些因素导致这样的差异呢？这是由于地域特征、气侯环境、风俗习惯等因素的影响。本文透过中西方不同的文化价值观——中西饮食文化观念、方式、习惯、环境、口味、对象、烹饪方式和礼仪上的不同程度的差异经行比较。了解中西方饮食文化，端正对各自文化的态度，可以避免跨文化交际过程中由于不同的饮食文化和观念而产生的矛盾和冲突，增进双方的了解和沟通。所以对中西饮食文化的具体比较是很有意义的。
