Abstract:The conflict and the reconciliation between the mothers and their daughters in the novel of The Joy Luck Club show the effect of Chinese and American cultures on them and they expound that when a person places himself in a foreign culture, he can adapt to it, accept its effect on him and even follow or observe the country’s social and moral norms and its behavior code, but he can never have his native culture assimilated or dissimilated there, which is determined by his racial consanguinity and his traditional culture gene or he may lose himself and his value and finally he is surely deserted or eliminated by the society.

中文摘要:小说《喜福会》通过展现母女们所经历和展示的彼此之间的冲突、隔阂、理解、接受得出了这样一个道理：当一个人置身于异国文化中，他可以适应、接受其影响和作用，并遵守其社会道德规范与行为准则，但是绝不可以使他的本国文化被其异化或同化，这是他种族的血缘和基因所决定的。否则，他必将失去自我和自身价值，被其社会所遗弃和淘汰。
