Abstract: In the commodity economy times, advertisement, which plays an inestimable role in our society, has entered into thousands of families as a way of propagating and transmitting information. As an applied language, advertising English has been isolated from common English after a long-term evolution and it has its own linguistic style and features. The language is beautiful, original and full of connotations; the sentence structure is succinct; the rhetoric is various, intriguing and interesting. Advertisements, giving the charm of language full play, use the simplest language to express the most complex meanings. The purpose of advertisements is to stimulate people’s desire for shopping. This article gives an analytical account of the language features of Advertising English in terms of its lexical, syntactic and rhetorical features.

摘要:在如今商品经济的潮流下,广告已经进入千家万户,扮演着相当重要的角色。作为一门应用语言,广告英语经历了很长时间的改革,从普通英语中分离出来,并且拥有独特的语言形式和特征。广告英语词汇优美,独特且富有内涵,句子结构简单明了,修辞手法多样且风趣。广告用最简洁的语言传递复杂的信息,是语言更有魅力。广告的目的就是激发消费者的购物欲。本文将从广告英语的词汇,句法和修辞三方面切入,进行系统的分析和总结。
