Abstract: Music, as is known to all, is the universal language of mankind and has no boundary. Songs, with the elements of both music and language, should be a bridge for promoting communications between the Chinese people and the English-speaking people. In recent years, especially after the Chinese implementation of the opening-up policy, more and more foreign songs have been brought to China. Comparing to the other kind of translation, however, the lyrics translation remains neglected. Thus, the translation of English songs lyrics needs further research and development. This thesis discusses the importance, difficulties and techniques of English songs lyrics translation. And especially emphasizes the techniques, which includes transliteration, literal translation, addition, deletion, adaptation, and creation.

摘要：众所周知，音乐是一种无国界的世界语。歌曲，作为音乐和语言的结合体，是促进中国人民和英语国家人民交流的一座桥梁。近些年，尤其是在中国实施对外开放后，越来越多的外文歌曲涌入国内。然而，歌曲翻译，较之于其他翻译，仍旧边缘化。因此，对于英文歌曲的翻译需要进一步的研究与发展。本文探讨了英文歌曲翻译的重要性、难度性和技巧性，尤其突出了技巧性的翻译方法，其中包括音译、字面翻译、增添、删减、改编及创造性翻译的方法。
