Abstract：Owing to its vividness, conciseness and humorousness, English slang has become the most active and expressive form of English language，which enjoys the great popularity among people. What’s more, nowadays books，news papers and magazines are flooded with slang. Thus with the popular and wide use in daily life，English slang has turned into an indispensable component of English vocabulary. If English learners don’t have a better understanding of slang, they can’t realize the real fascination of English language, which is crucial to slang translation. However, the translation of English slang is far from satisfaction in China. This thesis makes a study on the methods for slang translation under the guidance of functional equivalence theory so as to solve some problems arising in the slang translation.

摘要：英语俚语生动、简洁、幽默诙谐，已成为英语中最活跃、最具表现力的语言形式之一，深受大众喜爱。与此同时，英语俚语还大量出现在书本、报刊和杂志中，已成为英语词汇中必不可少的组成部分。英语学习者如果没有好好学习俚语，就不能很好地领悟英语语言的魅力，做好精彩的俚语翻译。目前国内的俚语翻译尚有商榷之处，本文针对俚语翻译过程中遇到的困难和出现的问题，从功能对等理论的角度探讨俚语翻译的原则和策略。
