Abstract:Broadcast news and newspaper news are the main method for people to get information in the modern society. Newspaper news is one kind of written style, which transmits by literalness, and broadcast news belongs to the oral style, which is spread by sound and vision. Newspaper news and broadcast news all belongs to news media. They have both similarities and differences. As for English news workers and English learners, there is significant help in news writing and English listening if we know their similarities and differences. In view of the importance to the journalists in English or English learners, the writer made the subject of this paper“Stylistic Comparison between Broadcast News and Newspaper News”.
I selected a number of American and British newspapers and broadcast materials to make some comparison. By comparison, the author reached the following conclusions: The headline of broadcast news is often shorter than newspaper; the sentences in broadcast news are always simpler than newspapers; and broadcast news usually uses estimated digital in data handling. Based on these findings I hope that it is helpful to the future of English listening.

中文摘要:广播新闻和报纸新闻是当代社会人们获取信息的重要手段。虽然它们都属于新闻传媒，但是因为传播途径不同，广播是通过声音和影像来传播，而报纸是通过文字来传播，这样决定了他们二者之间既有相同点，又有不同点。
对于英语新闻工作者或英语学习者而言，了解他们的异同在新闻写作方面和英语新闻听力方面会有很大的帮助，故此本论文将上述两种媒体的新闻作为研究目标。掌握了这些相同点与不同点，英语学习者、新闻记者和语言学者的英语学习、英语写作、英语新闻听力及掌握英语的过程就会变得更加有效、更加容易了。鉴于英语新闻工作者或英语学习者的这种重要性，在此笔者把“英语广播新闻与报纸新闻的文体比较”作为本论文的主题。
笔者选取了美国和英国的一些新闻报纸和广播材料进行对比，通过对比，笔者得出了以下结论：（1）广播新闻的标题往往比报纸新闻的标题短（2）广播新闻的句子往往比报纸新闻的标题简单（3）数据处理上报刊多用精确数字，广播电视则用概数。基于这些结论笔者希望能为未来的英语听力带来新的启示。
