Abstract: The Bluest Eye is the first work of the African-American female writer Toni Morrison. This thesis attempts to analyze Pecola’s tragedy from her family,the society and pecola herself. Being raped by her father and her mother’s indifference to her plight are the direct causes of Pecola’s tragedy. Pecola’s passive acceptance of the white culture and its values also contributes to her tragedy. This thesis concludes that the fundamental cause of Pecola’s tragedy is the impact of white dominant culture on the black culture. The white dominant culture causes the loss of the black culture and black people’s self-denial and self-hatred.

摘要：《最蓝的的眼睛》是美国黑人女性作家托尼莫瑞森的第一部作品。本文试从家庭、社会及佩科拉自身原因等角度分析《最蓝的眼睛》中佩科拉的悲剧原因，论文认为父亲对佩科拉的迫害和母亲对她的冷漠是造成佩科拉悲剧的最直接原因，但她自己对白人文化和价值观的被动接受也是造成她悲剧的原因。论文认为造成佩科拉悲剧的根本原因是白人强势文化对黑人弱势文化的冲击。白人的强势造成黑人文化的流失和黑人的自我否定和自我憎恨。
