Abstract:With the continuous development of cross-cultural communication, the cultural issues are also increasingly attracted attention. Set phrases are often seen as the essence of the national culture, which play an increasingly important role in the cross-cultural communication. Set phrases are which we can often learn from our language study, and they are also the most difficult part for us to understand in the language translation. The exact translation of set phrases will make the cross-cultural communication more convenient. In this paper, English set phrases are elaborated from their concept, characteristics, classification and translation standards, translation methods, as well as problems in the translation which should be paid attention to. Through some cases study, the purpose is to help readers better understand English set phrases and to improve the study and the use of English set phrases, to deepen the understanding of English nation, and to improve cross-cultural communication skills.

中文摘要:随着跨文化交际的不断发展和深入，文化问题也日益引起人们的重视。人们通常把成语看作民族文化的精华与缩影。成语，在跨文化交际中发挥着日益重要的作用。成语是语言学习中经常遇到的语言现象，也是语言翻译中比较难掌握的部分。处理好成语的翻译问题，对于跨文化交往的更加方便,将起着非常重要的作用。本文对英语成语从它的概念、特征、分类和翻译标准，翻译方法以及在翻译中应注意的问题方面来进行阐述。通过实例分析，旨在帮助读者更好地了解英语成语，提高对英语成语的研究和运用水平，加深对英语民族的了解，提高跨文化的语言交际能力。
