Abstract: The Chinese four characters are characterized by compendious form and abundant meaning, conducive to the optimization of the Chinese version. This paper analyzes the esthetic values of the Chinese four characters in English-Chinese translation from the perspectives of rhythm, form, content and style by enumerating single word, phrase, the whole sentence and some other examples of the Chinese four characters in English-Chinese translation. The paper points out that culture should be taken into consideration when it comes to the Chinese four characters in English-Chinese translation from esthetic perspective in translation, so that the Chinese four characters can be applied to English-Chinese translation.

摘要：汉语四字格言简意赅，有助于汉语译本的优化。本文通过列举英语单词，词组和整个句子等英译汉中四字格运用的实例从音韵，形式，内容和行文四个角度分析了汉语四字格在英译汉中的美学价值。文章从翻译美学角度指出四字格在英译汉中运用时应考虑文化因素以此来实现四字格的合理运用。
