Abstract: Wuthering Heights is elaborately written by the British talented writer Emily Bronte in the 19th century. As Emily Bronte’s only novel, it is one of the romantic masterpieces in the literary world. Heathcliff, the hero of the novel, originally is a boy with numerous virtues. However, after suffering lots of damages, he becomes a ruthless, cold and crazy avenger. His humanity has been distorted once, but at the end of this novel, he regains his human nature. The evolutional process of his character truly reflects the contradiction, grimness and prejudice of social hierarchy that destroy human nature in the capitalist society of the 19th century.
This paper is trying to analyze the unique dual personality of Heathcliff and find the reason that leads to the changes in Heathcliff’s character from three aspects: the human growth process, the social environment influences and emotional development. Focuses will be put on the recovery process of his character.

摘要：《呼啸山庄》是19世纪英国天才女作家艾米莉•勃朗特精心构制的一部浪漫主义杰作,也是她创作的唯一一部小说。小说主人翁希斯克利夫从一个具有诸多人性美的少年到遭受伤害后扭曲了人性变成一个无情的、冷酷的、疯狂的复仇者，又到人性复归，其性格的演变过程，真实地反映了19世纪资本主义在发展过程中所暴露出的社会等级观念的矛盾、冷酷和偏见对人性的摧残。
本文将致力于分析希斯克利夫身上所潜在的独特双重性格，从人物成长环境，社会遭遇，感情发展等种种导致主人公性格转变的因素出发，着重分析人物性格复苏的过程，体味人性的复苏之美。
