Abstract: Proverb is an encyclopedia of people's life, which comprehensively and profoundly reflects the national world outlook and values. With a long history, both China and UK are rich in long history. In the vast multitude of folk proverbs of ethnic groups, quite a large number of proverbs reflect marriage views. In order to reveal the differences and similarities of marriage views between two nations, this thesis studies Chinese and British marriage proverbs and analyzes the marriage views from three aspects: the purpose of marriage, the standard of spouse selection, marriage relationship between husband and wife. The study of two nations' traditional marriage views helps strengthen mutual understanding and deepen friendship.

摘要：谚语是一部生动的民众生活百科全书，全面而深刻地表现了民族的世界观和价值观。中英两门语言历史悠久，源远流长，都包括了极其丰富的谚语。在各民族浩如烟海的民间谚语中，有相当一部分是反映婚姻观念的。为了揭示汉英两个民族婚姻观念的异同点，本文从婚姻目的，择偶标准，夫妻关系三个方面来分析英汉传统的婚姻观。对英汉谚语中婚姻观的研究有助于在跨文化交际中增进了解，加深友谊。
