Abstract:As one of the famous “reclusive writers” in the United States, Jerome David Salinger gets high reputation after World War II. His only novel The Catcher in the Rye is regarded as a “modern classic” in post-war American literature. Salinger's works reflect the inner conflicts of American adolescents after World War II and have great influences on Americans. Undoubtedly, teenagers are greatly affected by environment. That is all because teenagers lack proper guidance by adults during the process of growth. So a positive society is very important to teenagers.
The thesis mainly analyzes the growth experiences of Holden Caulfield, to find the connection between teenagers’ growth and the society. This thesis will state the theme from two aspects: first, what Holden meets, thinks and how he feels about the family, school and society; second, the analysis of the change of his inner world at the different stages. By this, teenagers’ complex inner activities will be disclosed. As a typical anti-hero, Holden really represent a large number of adolescents. Therefore this thesis will give a deep analysis of the connection between growth and society from the case of Holden. As a result, more people can understand the process of youths’ minds, and furthermore come to realize the social impact on them. So the adults will care more about teenagers’ growth and try their best to change the bad phenomenon and reduce the negative effects on the youths.

摘要:杰罗姆•大卫•塞林格(Jerome David Salinger)是美国著名“遁世”作家之一,他迄今为止发表的唯一一部小说《麦田里的守望者》在美国战后文学中被誉为“现代经典”;他的作品集中反映了五十年代美国青少年那种对社会事物既不能撒手不管,又不愿参与的矛盾心理,从不同角度对社会的各个方面提出了批评,在美国有广泛影响。毫无疑问地环境对青少年人群的影响甚大,这都是因为在他们的成长过程中缺少成人的正确引导。所以一个充满正能量,积极向上的社会对青少年来说很重要。
本文主要对书中主人公霍尔顿•考尔菲得这一人物的成长经历进行分析,找到青少年成长与环境的联系。本文将从两方面分析阐述本论文主题:一是霍尔顿与家庭、学校和踏入社会的所遇所思所感,二是不同阶段的霍尔顿经历的事情及他的心理变化的分析。以此来揭露青少年复杂的内心心理。作为一个典型的反英雄形象,霍尔顿代表了一大批青少年。因此以霍尔顿为切入点对成长与社会环境进行深入研究和探讨,挖掘两个深层的关系。借此让更多的人了解青少年成长过程中的心路历程以及社会对他们造成的影响,从而更多的关注他们的成长,尽可能改变社会的不良风气以减少对青少年的负面影响。
