Abstract：In recent years, the American situational comedy is very popular for Chinese audience. A series of the study books and journals about pragmatics analysis of verbal humor in American situational comedy are also published at home and abroad in Academia. As for the pragmatics process, Grice’s (1975) cooperative principle and its four maxims have been analyzed frequently with the verbal humor of the TV situation comedy.
This paper chooses the cooperative principle (cooperative principle is one of the basic principles of pragmatics) to analyze the conversational implicature of the verbal humor in American situational comedy. The study chooses the famous situational comedy Growing Pains which is representative of the family-centered situation comedy in the United States as the linguistic data. The author analyzes the verbal humor in details when the speakers violate the maxims of cooperative principle：the maxim of quality, the maxim of quantity, the maxim of relation and the maxim of manner. This study also deeply analyzes the conversational implicature of verbal humor in Growing Pains. From this study, the English learners can understand the conversational implicature of verbal humor better from the perspective of cooperative principle. And this study is helpful for improving the English learners’ appreciation and pragmatics competency for verbal humor in the American situational comedy.

摘要：近年来，美式情景喜剧广受国内的观众的欢迎。在学术界，国内外也出版一系列关于美式情景喜剧中的言语幽默的语用分析的研究著作和刊物。随着语用学的发展，格莱斯的合作原则及它的四个准则经常被用来分析电视情景喜剧的言语幽默。
本文选择合作原则（语用学的基本理论之一）去分析美式情景喜剧中的言语幽默的会话含义。该研究选取了美国著名情景喜剧《成长的烦恼》(在美国，这部美剧是家庭情景喜剧的代表作)是作为语料。作者详细地分析了当说话者通过违反合作原则的准则：质量准则，数量准则，关系准则以及方式准则所引起的言语幽默，并深入分析其中所蕴含的会话含义。通过该研究，英语学习者能够更好从合作原则的角度理解言语幽默中的会话含义，从而提高英语学习者对美式情景喜剧的言语幽默的欣赏能力和语用理解力。
