Abstract: News headlines are the eyes of the news, an important part of the news. With plenty of practical examples, this paper analyzes the main features of English news headlines, the translation principle and the methods frequently used in translating news headline. This paper is composed of three parts. Starting from the comprehensive study of the English news headlines and deep analyzing of the features of the news headlines in terms of grammar, vocabulary and rhetoric, the paper puts forward the principle of news headlines translation, and attempts to explore the methods of news headline translation, such as literal translation, liberal translation, and reproduction of the rhetoric of the headlines. This paper also tries to provide useful suggestions for translators in their translation of English headlines, so as to make it possible for the Chinese readers to learn about the world by using the eyes of English news.

摘要：新闻标题是新闻的眼睛，也是新闻的重要组成部分。通过结合大量具体实例，本文研究了英语新闻标题的主要特点，翻译原则以及在翻译英语新闻标题中经常使用的翻译方法。本文分为三个部分。通过对英语新闻标题综合性的学习以及对新闻标题特点的深入分析，以研究标题的语法，词汇和修辞特点开始，然后提出英语新闻标题的翻译原则。本文旨在迎合读者的要求，通过引用了众多的例子，发掘并总结了翻译的方法，比如直译，意译，再现原文的修辞特点以及一些其他的翻译方法。本文努力为英语新闻翻译者在翻译标题时提供有用的建议，使得中国读者通过英语新闻的眼睛来认知整个世界成为可能。
