Abstract
This thesis, based on Jane Austen’ s famous novel --- Pride and Prejudice, probes into her view on marriage. In her novel Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen described the different marriages among young people. She pointed out that marriage is not determined only by property and society status. In fact, true love is the most fundamental condition for a happy marriage. Moreover, She focused on the equality between men and women and tried to arouse women’s awareness to achieve equality in marriage. The thesis analyzes the reasons for her view from the historical background, Austen’s emotional experience, the importance of gender quality, etc. Austen’s views of marriage has the far-reaching implication.
