Abstract:As an art technique in the literature, irony includes three major types: verbal irony, dramatic irony, situational irony. According to Forster and Harding, characters in novels can be divided into flat characters and round-shaped characters (cartoon characters and sketch characters). In Jane Austen’s masterpiece Pride and Prejudice, the skilful use of various ironic means thoroughly manifested the theme of people’s blind pursuit of money and social status by marriage at that time, and analyzed manners in different classes and shaped a variety of vivid characters. This paper aims to make a brief analysis of the irony in stressing the theme, manners and characters in Pride and Prejudice.

中文摘要:18世纪末的英国，无论是诗人、散文家还是小说家都力图把艺术手法与机智、诙谐、幽默和反讽结合起来。作为当时的璀璨明珠，简.奥斯丁在小说内涵的表现方式上总喜欢透过睿智的目光静静地观察着社会及人生。这种方法使得小说里对社会的赞扬仍然存在，同时又给予读者深刻的感官享受。在她的代表作《傲慢与偏见》中，简.奥斯丁通过娴熟运用各种反讽，将小说主题，即当时社会以追求金钱和地位为目的的婚姻观淋漓尽致地展现出来；将小说中的各种人物生动逼真地塑造出来。本文将通过对文章主题、人物性格及阶级道德等的分析全面阐述反讽艺术在该书中的运用。
