Abstract:Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by British female novelist Jane Austen. “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of good fortune must be in want a wife.”[1]This is the beginning of the novel. Two hundred years have passed. The beginning of this sentence gives the reader a deep impression. The novel depicts the marriage of four pairs of man and women: Elizabeth and Darcy, Charlotte and Collins, Jane and Bingley, Lydia and Wickham. The novel treats the different treatments of lifelong events by the five daughters of Bennet, showing the different attitudes of the middle-class family members of the township to the marriage and love issues, thus reflecting the author’s own concept of marriage of love is unhappy. And it is wrong to marry for money. This article combines modern life and gives the significance of Austen’s view of marriage to the present.
