Abstract: Jane Eyre, an autobiographical novel of Charlotte Bronte(1816-1855), has attracted increasing critical attention in the literary world. Charlotte created the female image who has a spirit of revolt and fight for freedom and equality. This paper aims to interpret Jane Eyre from the perspective of feminism. Using Charlotte’s masterpiece Jane Eyre as the text, this paper firstly introduces briefly about Charlotte Bronte and Jane Eyre, and then focuses on illustrating the feminism reflected on Jane Eyre, through the analysis of Jane’s pursuit of equality, freedom and true love, which reveals the awakening of female consciousness and the social value of women in the Victorian period. It is the female awareness in this novel that conveys Charlotte’s strong subversion consciousness of gender and that makes Jane Eyre a classic.
