Abstract：Festival custom reflects a nation’s own history and social life style, which concludes a nation’s unique national special and a strong national atmosphere. What’s more, which embodies that a nation’s personality, psychology, beliefs, ways of thinking and values. In this paper, by analyzing the different Chinese and American festivals to figure out the origin, heritage, evolution and contents of the festivals, we can have the access to explore deeply the differences between their different core values. Finally, it points out that we need to inherit positively our own cultural heritage in the way of the socialist core values; we should study from the essence of the foreign value and develop, innovate our own traditional festival culture to root it in our own soft strength of culture in order to boost the Chinese national competitive force in the globalization.
