Abstract
The primary school English teaching plays an important role in students’ English learning. The New English Curriculum ,which advocates the method of task-based teaching, emphasizes learning by doing and aims to providing opportunities for the students to experiment with oral English and writing. My paper is intended to explore the practical employment of the task-based teaching and learning method through first an analysis of different types of language skills and their interdependence, second an interpretation of the connotations and significance of this method and last a summary of principles governing its practical use reinforced by case studies.
