Abstract: TBLT (Task-based Language Teaching, referred to as TBLT), originated in 1980s is an language teaching method emphasizing on "language teaching doing". It is a kind of teaching mode which gives full play to students’ initiative and creativity, and the basic concept of language use is put into practical significance. Through classroom observation, the essay analyzes the task types English teachers often use in reading class and shortages and problems existing in the application of some tasks; and through a questionnaire survey of students, the essay tries to get the students’ perception of task setting in class. The aim is to help English teachers in the junior high school more accurately grasp and effectively use the task-based teaching method in English reading class, so as to improve the classroom efficiency.
