Abstract:Animal idioms are regarded as a characteristic rhetoric in the language and it plays a very important role in the Chinese and English languages. The paper is targeted at the animal idiom and adopts analysis of the inductive method and comparative method to discuss the comparative analysis on definition of Chinese and English idioms, features, similarities and differences and explores the translation of Chinese and English animal idioms with the guidance of the functional equivalence theory so as to achieve a better understanding of idiom translation skills, and learn idioms better to promote cross-cultural communication between Chinese and English world.
