Abstract: This paper aims to study how to translate English attributive structures into Chinese. This thesis classifies non-clausal attributives (including pre-attributive and post-attributive) and attributive clauses (including restrictive clauses, non-restrictive clauses and semi-adverbial attributive clauses) as English attributive structures. By collecting a lot of examples, the author analyzes the length, place and function of attributive structures, and on the basis of these classifications, the author makes a summary of several common translation methods: prepositioning, postposition, mixture or translating them into Chinese adverbial clauses.
Key words: English; Attributive Structures; translation methods
