Abstract: Recently, the films and television programs from foreign countries have started their journey to Chinese screen as the rapid development of cultural and economic globalization. Meanwhile, the experts and scholars have paid more and more attention to the subtitle translation. This paper aims to analyze if the typical subtitle translations in Brokeback Mountain are up to the requests of Skopostheorie and its three rules, namely, skopos rule, coherence rule and loyalty rule, and then tries to propose some suitable ways to solve the problems existing in the subtitle translation of Brokeback Mountain.
