Abstract
This thesis, by analyzing Huaiyang cuisine translation, intends to make an analysis of the English Translation of Chinese cuisine from cultural perspective. Through the study on the English translation of Huaiyang cuisine, on one hand, we can develop our research skills; on the other hand, we can also explore Chinese and Western similarities and differences in thinking so as to avoid misunderstanding in cross-culture communication and get a correct understanding of other country’s culture. The cuisine translation involves various cultural aspects such as eating habits, thinking differences and so on. First of all, this thesis explores the differences in ways of thinking between the Chinese and Westerners from cultural perspective. Then, it has a brief introduction about Huaiyang cuisine and analyzes some of its existing translation. Also, some of my own translation is offered and explained from cultural perspective. Finally, a conclusion is made. Through my analysis and exploration of Huaiyang cuisine translation, I hope the thesis can contribute more or less to the spread of Huaiyang cuisine in western world.
