Abstract: Parataxis is a method that the poets intentionally omit grammatical correlatives in order to form a highly concise, imaginative and expressive structure. This thesis analyzes the feasibility of parataxis in translating imagery juxtaposition of ancient Chinese poetry from the view of reception aesthetics with some examples such as Sand and Sky, Early Departure at Shangshan Moutain, illustrating that parataxis can better convey the original meaning of the poetry and it is an effective method to deal with imagery juxtaposition.
