本次翻译实践选取《在白人社会中嬉戏》的序言以及鸣谢部分，无人翻译过并且难度适中。对于翻译材料里的一些特定时期的事件和人物，通过查阅工具书、资料和请教他人等方式，补充历史方面的专业知识，较为透彻地读懂原文。翻译的语言和形式要忠实于原著，保留传记文体的真实性和文学性。传记类文章的翻译必须保留历史或显示文中存在的人物和事件，还原历史的真实性。同时又要使用一定的艺术手法加以表现，兼具一定的文学性。原文中有较多长句，需要结合前后语境，连贯地向读者传达作者的中心思想，以恰当的形式和风格翻译出来。

本论文主要分为两大块：1、翻译部分；2、论文部分。

    1、翻译部分：本次翻译实践选取《在白人社会中嬉戏》的序言部分在这些部分中，作者讲述了自身经历以及写作初衷，对于理解本书内容起着至关重要的作用。    

    2、论文部分：翻译心得主要以英文句式结构为基本点开展。结合翻译过程中遇到的英文长句现象撰写论文，讲述根据中英句式习惯不同，如何选取适当的句式传达原文的句子结构及思路。根据翻译实践过程中遇到的翻译问题及解决办法讲述自己的心得体会。

INTRODUCTION

The selection of my translation practice is the preface, acknowledgment and the introduction of Playing in the White. They have not been translated by now and are at a proper difficulty. In order to translate the specific events and characters happening in a certain period in translation material correctly, the original text can be thoroughly understood only by consulting reference books, information and others, combined with professional knowledge of history study. Translation should be faithful to the original text and form, preserving the integrity of the biographical literary style. Translation of biographical article must retain or show the existence of historic figures and events, to restore the truth of history. At the same time, artistic techniques of expression are used to express the main points, which have a sense of literariness. There are many letters in the original context. Therefore, it is necessary for the translator to convey the author's main idea to the readers within the context using proper form and style.

This paper is mainly divided into two parts: the translation and the essay. 

Part one is the translation of he preface, acknowledgment and the introduction of Playing in the White. The author talks about the experience of herself, the three parts will help us make a better comprehension to this book.

Part two is about the translation method used in the process, mainly based on the adjustment of word order in English sentence structure. Taking the examples of attribute, adverbial, parenthesis and so on in the form of phrases and sentences, according to the different habits of sentence structure in English and Chinese, it is of much importance to select the appropriate sentence structure in translation to convey the original contextual meaning and the train of thoughts. The problems encountered in the process of translation practice are analyzed and solutions to solve them are suggested in this essay.
