第十二章的标题为《女人的爱》，先是讲述了露特拉救布莱克先生的过程。分别以后，布莱克先生对表妹伊芙琳的感情复燃却遭到父亲的强烈反对。他父亲临死前要求布莱克先生要找到一位合适的妻子否则就不把遗产传给他，迫于无奈他与露特拉结了婚。露特拉在知道真相后伤心地离开了。
第十三章的标题为《男人的心》，在露特拉离开后，布莱克先生怎么也忘不了她的身影，他才发现自己其实已经深深地爱上了她。他通过各种方法寻找露特拉可是怎么也找不到。
第十四章的标题为《丹尼尔斯夫人》，在这一章节中，经过布莱克先生和两位侦探的逼问，丹尼尔斯夫人终于说出了实情。原来那个失踪的女裁缝正是布莱克先生的妻子露特拉。将他带走的是她的父亲和哥哥。
INTRODUCTION
A Strange Disappearance is a story written by American detective story writer Anna Katharine Green which told about a case that a sewing girl disappeared strangely from Mr. Blake's house. With the search of two detectives, it finally turned out that this sewing girl who disappeared strangely was just Mr. Blake's wife Luttra. Luttra's father and brother were two thieves and once wanted to kill Mr. Blake to take his money, but Luttra saved his life. Mr. Blake was forced to marry Luttra under his father's pressure while loved another woman. Luttra was deeply hurt after she knew the truth and left away. Mr. Blake found himself had fallen into love with the girl after she disappeared and could not be found any more. Actually, she made a change in herself and pretended to be a sewing girl and still lived in Mr. Black's house. It was her father and brother who took her away and they attempted to threaten Mr. Blake by Luttra. In the end, the police caught these two thieves successfully and saved Luttra. This detective story is very attractive and suitable for reading. In this translation practice, chapter twelve, thirteen and fourteen were chosen to be translated from this book.
Chapter twelve was named A Woman's Love. First, it told about the process which Luttra saved Mr. Blake’s life from her father and brother's hands. After their separation, Mr. Blake’s interest in his cousin Evelyn Blake revived while his father opposed strongly. His father asked Mr. Blake to find a suitable wife before he dead, otherwise, he would not leave inheritance to him. Mr. Blake was forced to marry Luttra finally. But Luttra left away sadly.
Chapter thirteen named A Man's Heart. After Luttra left away, Mr. Blake was haunted by her image and could not forget her at all. He found that actually he had loved this girl. He turned to many measures to search for Luttra but all failed.
Chapter fourteen named Mrs. Daniels. In this chapter, Mrs. Daniels spoke out the truth that the disappeared sewing girl was just Mr. Blake’s wife Luttra under the asking of Mr. Blake and two detectives. She was taken away by her father and brother.
